Helix Binders and Creo Design: Bound by Google Ads

Helix Binders isn’t just another book printing firm. With a unique blend of traditional bookbinding artistry and cutting-edge digital print technology, their bookbinding services range from the re-binding of library & textbooks, through student thesis and yearbooks to production of unique tailored products. They also specialise in the production of photobooks and albums and short-run high-quality books.

Google Ads Audit

A few months back, through our partnership with Falkirk Council, we had the privilege of supporting Helix Binders, and setting up a Google Ads campaign aimed at driving web traffic and increasing sales. Within a short span of a few months, the campaign proved to be a roaring success. Iain was delighted with the digital support our team were able to offer him for his business.

It was smooth sailing until an unexpected call from a Google Representative. Trusting in the expertise of the Google rep, Iain implemented a host of changes recommended by the Google Representative. Sadly, the repercussions were immediate and not in a good way. Costs per click soared, website traffic took a nosedive, and the click-through rate tumbled down a steep slope. The thriving campaign was on the brink of derailment.

Realising the drastic turn things had taken after the changes, Iain approached Creo Design once again, this time for a Google Ads Audit. As we delved into the campaign’s analytics, the stark difference in metrics – before and after the Google rep’s changes – was obvious. Together with Iain, we methodically reversed many of the changes that had so badly affected the campaign.

Fixing you Google Ads Campaign

Iain was delighted with the service he received, saying: “Helix Binders hooked up with Tom several months ago to create an effective Google Ads campaign. After some serious background research Tom selected the key words/phrases so as to have maximum impact. It was/is fantastic to see our name at the top of the page for our Google searched words. I’ve recently been back in touch with Tom to undertake an a Google Ads audit and make some adjustments to ensure we are obtaining maximum exposure for our budget.”

We should say at this point that we are in no way criticising Google or their representatives. These people are experts and are making changes based on success they’ve had with similar methods in the past.

However, as anyone who has ever tried to run an ad campaign will know, every business is unique. This means that what works for one business, might not necessarily work for another. That’s why it’s important to work with Google Ads experts that are able to take the time to test and measure on a daily basis.

Hopefully these changes will see the campaign return to its former glory.
