Hotel Renovation Videography: Documenting Carey Contracts at Lyf George Square Glasgow
A hotel renovation project can take months to complete, which is where hotel renovation videography earns its place.
But when it is finished, the transformation can be easy to underestimate if all anyone ever sees is the final result.
That is why ongoing video documentation can be so valuable.
We recently worked with long-term client Carey Contracts to capture the refurbishment of the former Mercure Glasgow City Hotel as it was transformed into Lyf George Square Glasgow.
The project gave us the opportunity to document the work across the full renovation journey, from the early stages through to the finished interiors.
Hotel Renovation Videography From Start to Finish
The hotel features 91 rooms alongside a restaurant, bar and meeting and event spaces.
Carey Contracts carried out ongoing cosmetic upgrades and room renovations on a floor-by-floor basis, gradually transforming the property as the new Lyf identity took shape.
Rather than visiting once at the end of the project, our video work documented the refurbishment at different stages.
That meant capturing the spaces before work began, following progress while the renovation was underway and then returning to show the finished result.
The final video could therefore tell the complete story.
Why Before, During and After Hotel Renovation Videography Works
Transformation is one of the most powerful things you can show visually.
A completed hotel room can look fantastic, but without seeing where it started, the scale of the work behind it is much harder to appreciate.
Before-and-after content gives viewers immediate context.
The “during” stage adds another layer, showing the work, process and progress that sit between those two points.
For contractors, fit-out specialists and refurbishment businesses, that helps demonstrate much more than the final finish.
It showcases capability.
Video That Shows the Work Behind the Result
Commercial contractors often complete impressive projects that can be difficult to explain through words alone.
Video makes that easier.
It can show:
- The original condition of a space
- Different stages of the refurbishment
- The scale of the project
- Work taking place on site
- Details and finishes
- Progress over time
- The completed transformation
Together, those elements create a much stronger project story than a single set of finished photographs.
Creating Content Throughout a Long-Term Project
One of the biggest advantages of documenting a project over time is that the content does not need to wait until completion.
Progress footage can be used throughout the project for social media, client updates and wider marketing.
Then, once the work is finished, the footage can be brought together into a more complete case study or project film.
For Carey Contracts, hotel renovation videography across multiple stages of the Lyf George Square Glasgow refurbishment meant the final content could demonstrate the journey as well as the end result.
Turning Completed Projects Into Marketing Assets
Your completed work is one of the strongest pieces of marketing content your business has.
For contractors, construction companies, fit-out specialists and property businesses, professional video can turn individual projects into reusable assets for:
- Websites
- Case studies
- Social media
- Tender submissions
- Presentations
- Sales meetings
- Recruitment
- Digital advertising
Instead of simply telling prospective customers what you can deliver, you can show them.
Building a Stronger Project Portfolio
For businesses working across multiple sites and developments, consistently documenting projects also helps build a stronger long-term portfolio.
Over time, that creates a library of evidence showing the range, scale and quality of the work being delivered.
That is particularly valuable when future clients want to see relevant examples before deciding who to work with.
The Lyf George Square Glasgow project is another strong addition to Carey Contracts’ portfolio, showcasing their involvement in a major hotel refurbishment in the heart of Glasgow.
